Hey everyone, our last post was about a vegan meal kit, this one is for our meat lovers! For Easter, my good friend Mitch and his family came down to Cincinnati and took me out for dinner. I had never heard of Montgomery Inn since it was well off campus, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. I will get to the delicious brisket I had later, but first I want to start with the exterior of the restaurant. The first thing you notice about this place (which is one of the only negatives) is the lack of parking. If you pull into what seems to be the first lot, it is valet only, and it is poorly marked until you have already turned in. If you want self-parking you have to drive 2-3 lots down and make a decent walk. Once you are parked, you can walk up and see the unique shape of the building, it is big and round, with glass windows overlooking the Ohio River. They even have a walking path that runs parallel to the river and makes for a pretty good photo op.

Inside was even more beautiful. It helped that it was a perfectly sunny day, but the use of the curved building with the floor-to-ceiling windows allowed a lot of natural light to come in. The table we were sat at was not even right up against the window, but they have the floor raised farther back in the restaurant so that everyone has a beautiful view of the river.

The service we had at the Montgomery Inn was very good, our server was very patient with us and made great conversation. She really seemed to have a genuine interest when she talked with us, rather than just being nice for a tip.

Now the good stuff. FOOD. We started out with an appetizer of Pulled Pork Nachos. These were Saratoga Chips covered in barbecue pulled pork, cheese, and we put our scallions and jalapeños on the side. This dish is award winning, and I see why. First off, the dish is huge, definitely big enough for the whole family to share, and the flavors of all the ingredients went together so well. Their pulled pork was juicy and the sauce was awesome! For the main course I ordered the Ted’s Platter. I was not sure which meat to order since I had never been there before, so this is a great option since there is a variety. This dish contains a combination of their original and smoked ribs, with their smoked brisket. All of the meats were so perfectly cooked, the brisket was the best in my opinion, but they were all very well prepared. The sauce, onion straws, and cornbread complimented the meat perfectly. Plus there was so much food that I was able to make 2 meals out of it, and it was still amazing reheated.

Overall, I had an amazing experience at Montgomery Inn, I will definitely be back. The service was great, the view was beautiful, and the food was to die for. The only set back I have is the price, but it is well worth it for the quality and quantity that you receive. If you are looking for a nicer meal for an event or special occasion, this is the perfect place.
